Cancellation & Refund

We know plans change, and you might need to cancel your trip. This guide explains how to do that and what to expect with your money. Just remember, we always have to follow the rules set by the airline and other companies involved in your booking.

Canceling Your Booking

  • Most tickets are non-refundable. If you cancel, you usually won't get cash refund. However, the airline often gives you a credit to use toward a future flight.
  • Some tickets are refundable, but that's a decision the airline makes, not us.

How to Tell Us You Need to Cancel

  • Online: Just log into your AltAirlines account, head over to 'My Bookings,' and follow the steps there.
  • By Phone: Give our customer support team a call, and we'll walk you through it.

Once you submit your request, we immediately get to work with the airline. Keep in mind that the airline has the final say on whether your cancellation and any refund are approved.

The Fees You Might Pay

When you cancel, there are two types of fees that could be taken out of any credit or refund:

  • Airline Fees: The airline often charges its own cancellation fee, which depends on the type of ticket you bought.
  • AltAirlines Service Fee: We also charge a separate, non-refundable service fee to cover the cost of processing your cancellation with all the providers.

The Refund and Credit Timeline

  • If you are eligible for a refund, it takes time. After the airline approves it, it can take 45–60 days for the money to be returned. It will go back to the original credit card or payment method you used.
  • The ‘No-Show’ Rule is if you decide not to travel but don't cancel your flight before its scheduled departure time, you usually lose out on any refund or credit. Always contact us right away if you can't make your flight.

Want to Change Your Booking Instead?

You can also request changes to your flight times or other details by using 'My Bookings' or calling us. Be aware that:

  • Airlines almost always charge a fee for changes.
  • You may have to pay a fare difference if the new flight costs more than your original one.
  • Non-refundable tickets often do not allow changes at all.

Important Things to Remember

  • Read the Airline's Rules: Every airline has its own detailed policy. If your trip involves multiple airlines, you need to check each one. We show you these rules when you book.
  • Double-Check Your Details: Please make sure all the cancellation information you give us is correct. It's also a good idea to review the airline's full rules before you book.
  • Policy Updates: We can update this policy at any time, so we recommend checking this page for the most current information if you need to cancel down the road.
